Now this is what spring is about

What a beautiful day, 70 degrees and sunny. Played around in the yard. I am always amazed at how I can entertain myself with plants all day long and never run out of things to do. The back path is absolutely beautiful now...I wish I could capture the beauty in a picture.

I even worked in a 10 mile bike ride today. Came across a one-week old miniature horse at a Mennonite farm and I didn't have my camera. I have to remember to take it with me.

ANOTHER Rainy Day

We've gotten over 3" of rain in the past few days. I couldn't resist going out and walking around my gardens. Can't do much, so I headed in to start one of my favorite chores...cleaning my garden house. Well, it's really not one of my favorite things to do, but critters of the six legged kind tend to overwinter in there. The garden house needs to be repainted this year. Robins have made nests in the clematis, so we will have to wait a little longer. I think I may do the inside as well.

Rainy Day Blues

It's May 4 and I can't go out and play, so I went to Maple Lane Greenhouse instead to get more flowers for my window boxes and planters. I just love doing window boxes, it's almost like trying to create a masterpiece on canvas. I found some really beautiful hanging baskets. They are cone-shaped and made from moss and vines. I can't wait to see what they look like after I have them planted up. I plan on using them on my arbor.

My First Attempt at Gardening

TWENTY YEARS AGO! I had to share my very first garden with you; the beginning of my gardening affair. From this small plot, my love affair with gardening began. Our yard was the neighborhood playground for many years--we had the swings, the sandbox, etc. As our girls grew, I continued to expand and now my border extends to about 1500'.
My father was my gardening inspiration As a little girl I remember doing the barefoot dance in the spring as he tended his flowers. I was told that on more than one occasion I moved his plants more to my liking...funny, I'm still doing that today with my own plants. Gosh, do I miss him.
PS The pond is where the sandbox once stood and the girls have long graduated from college.
